Event overview
International psychology conference
Organised by InLab at Goldsmiths, University of London and the Laboratory for Cognitive Investigations and Behavioural Genetics, Tomsk State University in collaboration with the Russian-British Laboratory of Behavioural Genetics at the Psychological Institute of the Russian Academy of Education; New York University in London; and Unit of School and Family Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London.
The conference provides opportunities for researchers and students to present their latest work, exchange ideas, and strengthen collaborations in the field of educationally-relevant research, with particular focus on individual differences in cognition and achievement. Issues of context and experience, as well as non-cognitive motivational and emotional factors, will be explored. Both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies are highly relevant
The main themes of the conference are:
- Interdisciplinary approaches (educational studies; cognitive psychology; molecular genetics; genomics; neuroscience and twin studies). We are interested in what the different disciplines can learn from each other about education, context, learning, motivation, cognitive ability, and achievement.
- Cross-cultural investigations. We hope that discussions will emerge concerning the impact of cultural context on learning and cognition, and the implications for education.
Science communication. We hope to better understand how to engage with schools and the community, in designing and carrying out research, and how to provide useful usable information to the public.
Conference Highlights:
- Symposium on Mathematical Anxiety (Chair Margherita Malanchini)
- Keynote Talk: Genetics and Education: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Yulia Kovas
- Keynote Talk: Cognitive Development from age 2 to 16 years. Sophie VonStumm
