Event overview
Julio Etchart, Chile's 9/11: A photographic exhibition highlighting the struggle against dictatorship in Chile in the 1980s
Julio Etchart visited Chile in the 1980's and documented the political struggle against the Pinochet regime for the international press. In 1988, Amnesty International commissioned, designed and produced 'Faces of Chile'. Amnesty used this photo archive as a worldwide resource to highlight resistance against the dictatorship in Chile. The images in the new exhibition are part of the archive and reproduced by Amnesty International to mark the 40th anniversary of the military coup in Chile.
Julio Etchart is a documentary photographer, photojournalist and web reporter. He is a co-founder of Reportage Photos and Panos Pictures distribute his photographs and stories in the United Kingdom. http://www.julioetchart.com
