Lucy Hughes-Hallet is the author of a widely acclaimed study of Cleopatra and of ‘Heroes: Saviours, Traitors and Supermen’. Her latest book, on the Italian poet, proto-Fascist, seducer and self-publicist Gabriele D’Annunzio, recently won both the Samuel Johnson and Costa prizes for biography. She has reviewed widely for major British newspapers and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature
