Event overview
PureGold: a festival of music from Goldsmiths
PureGold, the annual celebration of eclectic, innovative and exciting music coming out of Goldsmiths, University of London, launches at the Southbank Centre on 5 May.
From baroque, opera and contemporary premiers, to singer-songwriters, electronica and installation, the musical talent on display at the PureGold musical festival will be a unique opportunity to see the future of music in an intimate venue in the centre of London.
It builds on and celebrates the music success that Goldsmiths has had over recent years – including 2013 Mercury Prize winner James Blake, album chart topper Katy B, and War Horse composer Adrian Sutton.
Previous artists and musicians who have performed at the PureGold festival include: Ultraísta vocalist and upcoming artist FEMME, who showcased her work in 2009 at the Albany Theatre; and one of the Guardian’s band of the day, Bat and Ball, who performed in 2012.
Launching at the Southbank Centre, events will be going on from May to July across London including the Albany, Deptford, as well as at Goldsmiths itself.
