Event overview
MA Interactive Media: Critical Theory and Practice Expo 2014
While our accelerated society builds on reliable and efficient technology to a point where it becomes difficult to remain conscious of its presence, Everything is Disappearing acts as a playground for investigating and experimenting with processes of interaction, learning, behaviour and identity.
In the hypermodern topography of spaces and the signals that come to define them, a rhythmic ordering of stimuli connects the periphery of encounter with the more intimate threads of sensory experience. Ecologies of posthuman relations emerge as channels of mediation and prostheses, casting the individual adrift beneath their currents. It is only in the gaps, glitches and textural imperfections that our disappearing act may surface as a component of the real.
The works on show enquire into the dynamic composition of twenty-first century digitality. Through playful, critical technicity and free-roaming abstraction, Everything is Disappearing constitutes a non-location to be aware of— a network of situations that are meant to adopt indeterminacy, complexity, dysfunctionality, disorientation and self-perception as methodologies for constructive inventiveness and learning towards transparency and renovated visibility.
