CPD Seminar with Dr Fiona Gabbert at 5 St Andrew's Hill Chambers
Goldsmiths, University of London in association with 5 St Andrew’s Hill present 'Assessing Witnesses' with Dr Fiona Gabbert.
This evening seminar will evaluate the psychological evidence relating to four commonly accepted tests of witness credibility;
The credit of the witness in relation to matters not germane to the litigation (circumstantial evidence relating to a person's character).
The consistency of the witness's evidence with what is agreed, or clearly shown by other evidence, to have occurred.
Consistency with what the witness has said or deposed on other occasions.
The demeanour of the witness (conduct/behaviour/appearance).
There will be plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion and a chance to meet experts from the Department of Psychology at Goldsmiths, University of London.
