Event overview
This is the final event of Dis-Play [23] so come along and witness beautiful cross cultural story telling followed by a Q&A with Chirine el Ansary and Anna Furse.
Chirine El Ansary has completed a BA in theatre at the
American University in Cairo, has studied at Jacques Lecoq
International School in Paris and has an MA in Performance
Making from Goldsmiths, University of London. Since 1996 she
is entirely dedicated to the art of story-performing with a very
physical approach and a very deep interest in how words
and movements can combine to create moods,
atmospheres and images.
She has also lead workshops in performance and storytelling
in various communities, for an extremely diversified public;
from teenagers and young adults in the Egyptian Oasis, to
public school teachers in Alexandria to professional actors in
Syria or the UK.
Chirine was one of the first performers to perform in ancient
buildings in the heart of the old city of Cairo as well as in the
markets and old palaces of Cairo, Damascus and Aleppo.
She has performed her repertoire of stories from the One
Thousand and One Nights internationally in very different cities
such as: Sana’a, Nairobi, Zanzibar, Johannesburg, Rome,
Naples, Rotterdam, Paris and London at the
Barbican 2004/2005.
