MARJOLAINE CHARBIN is a pianist working both inside the piano with objects and with the keyboard. Originally from France, she lived for many years in Brussels and is now based in London. Since studying sound engineering and jazz piano at the conservatoire in Brussels, she has focussed on improvised music as both a solo and collaborative performer.
GRUNDIK KASYANSKY (b. 1974, Moscow) is a London-based musician who works in experimental improvisation, live installation, audio collage, and designs sound for dance, theatre and film. He wrote poetry before switching to electronic music and it deeply influenced his current practice.
VISA KUOPPALA is a Finnish composer, improviser and field recordist. He is particularly active in the areas of acousmatic composition and electroacoustic improvisation, where he is fascinated with the poetic, emotional and atmospheric qualities of enigmatic or ambiguous sounds. For his improvisation practice he has developed a granular synthesis and feedback -based instrument called Malegra, which he plays both solo and in groups.
TOM MUDD is a musician and programmer interested in relationships between software and sound. His current work revolves around the inclusion of nonlinear dynamical processes in musical instruments and the effect this has on the nature of musical engagement, particularly in improvisation.
YONI SILVER, bass clarinetist, multi-instumentalist and composer, has played with musicians such as Steve Noble, Sharon Gal, Mark Sanders, Toshimaru Nakamura and Birgit Ulher. He is also a member of Hyperion Ensemble, led by Rumanian Hyper-Spectralist composers Iancu Dumitrescu and Ana-Maria Avram.
ARTUR VIDAL is a Spanish-born saxophone player and sound artist who grew up in Paris and currently resides in London. As such, he has performed in Europe, Asia and America. His work is interested in the possibilities of improvisation as well as in its implications within the social field. He is currently working on Mphil/PhD research at London College of Communication about the notions of silence and sociality in Improvised Music.
