Event overview
Portia Winters and Emmanuel Spinelli will be discussing the making of 'Epicotyl'
Portia Winters is an experimental vocalist writing and performing with pedals and electronics. Sound artist Emmanuel Spinelli co?produced her two albums, 'Epicotyl' and 'do not move stones: Fragments of Sappho'.
Together they will discuss the creative and technical production process. The talk will conclude with the performance of a handful of songs. The project began in a basement in North London, found home on Exotic Pylon’s Resonance FM show, and has re-threaded itself slowly over time, forming snapshots of disintegrating emotional geometries, lullabies for the dead, dislocation and reformation. Epicotyl is released on Exotic Pylon Records.

"If you’ve ever wondered what cowboys, samurais and data traffickers would listen to in the smokey, neon underground clubs of William Gibson’s Sprawl, look no further. Portia Winters has made a pop album for the technological age. Now the rest of us have to catch up." - chuck foster, big takeover magazine. full review here
"This is one of those albums that you're going to listen to and think about afterwards because you knew that these things were possible with music because they've been done before but they've never been done this way... this is a pure work of genius and one of the best albums I have heard in a very long time." -Joshua Macala, Raised by Gypsies.
