As part of the Department of Music's PureGold season, we present pianist Paul Cassidy with a recital of music by composers associated with Goldsmiths
Goldsmiths Composers Concert, with repertoire for solo piano, performed by PhD student Paul Cassidy, to include music by Ian Gardiner, Jeremy Peyton Jones, Robin Haigh, Rob Howat and Andrew Poppy.
Paul Cassidy studied at the Royal College of Music with Irina Zaritzkaya and Andrew Ball, graduating in 2001 as recipient of the Hopkinson Silver Medal. Since graduation Paul has been active as a freelance pianist and contemporary music specialist, performing with the internationally renowned ensemble Piano Circus. He has twice reached the semi-finals of British Contemporary Piano Competition, and has given numerous premieres of new works, including the world premiere of Kevin Malone's Count Me In for piano and electronics at the University of Manchester. In 2007 Paul performed in the PLG Young Artists Concert Series at the Purcell Room, London, and later that same year he participated alongside Michael Nyman and Gavin Bryars in a complete performance of Erik Satie's epic Vexations at the Tate Modern, London.
