Event overview
BA Fine Art/History of Art students respond to the Goldsmiths Textile Collection
In Reconstructing Textiles, four students on the BA Fine Art/History of Art Course engage with the Goldsmiths Textile Collection to instigate a dialogue between these archival sources and contemporary practices. Situated within the history of this archive, and therefore within the rich history of textiles at Goldsmiths, this exhibition rekindles connections with the work of previous students which makes up a portion of the archive, as well as a larger history of materiality. The exhibition will be accompanied by two workshops which will address major themes in the work and the collection, seeking to re-activate and re-contextualize conceptual and technical traditions within the field of textiles.
Workshops:
'Objects of Trauma' 28 May 6-7.30 pm
'Samples' 11 June 6-7.30 pm
Constance Howard Gallery & Goldsmiths Textile Collection
