Event overview
A screening of the documentary film Paris is Burning (1990) directed by Jennie Livingston.
Jennie Livingston's iconic documentary offers an intimate portrait of the Harlem drag balls, where rival fashion house compete for trophies and cash prizes in categories like “face,” “femme queen realness” and "voguing."
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion focusing on the implications of this film for our understanding of trans and queer people of colour (TQPOC) activisms and histories. The panel will include:
