Documentary Production in the Digital Age
Goldsmiths alumna Elhum Shakerifar is a producer of film and photography working in the field of human rights; her background in anthropology informs her approach. This year at the BAFTA Elhum was shortlisted for best documentary producer award for the film A Syrian Love Story (2015).
She also produced McAllister’s film The Reluctant Revolutionary (2012), about the unfolding revolution in Yemen told through the eyes of a tour guide leader, which opened the Panorama Dokumente at the 62nd Berlinale. In 2014 Elhum produced the feature documentary The Runner by Saeed Taji Farouky, an international co-production about a long distance runner from the Western Sahara, which is endorsed by the Irish Film Board and Ken Loach amongst others.
Elhum is a lecturer at the Free University of Berlin and a research fellow of the Department of Anthropology at Goldsmiths University where she completed an MA in Visual Anthropology. In 2011, Elhum was selected to be part of the British Council Cultural Leadership scheme for her work in film education and the arts. She is also a Fellow of the RSA.
