Viola Eidenbenz has over 30 years of experience in language teaching at all levels. She has an MRes in Learning and Teaching Languages from Hamburg University. Her thesis explored learners’ expectations and their impact on learning. She also holds a PGCE in Higher Education from Kingston University. She co-ordinates the Goldsmiths International Pathways (GIP) Pre-Sessional English Language Programme and the three-week English for Specific Purposes: Art-Related Intensive Course. She currently teaches on the International Foundation Certificate and on a number of in-sessional modules as well as the pre-sessional programmes.
Teaching
Viola Eidenbenz has previously designed and taught courses in English and German at various language institutes and in companies in the UK, Germany and Mexico, including German at Kingston University and at Goldsmiths, University of London. She has also given language support to Primary PGCE students at Goldsmiths and has taught on the Introduction to TEFLA and on the CLTA programme.
Research Interests
Viola is interested in students’ acquisition of language for specific purposes and the processes involved in developing the skills needed to enter and participate in a particular field of expertise.
