120 years of knowledge in action

Marking our 120th anniversary as a University.

This year marks 120 years since we opened our doors as a University in 1905.

In this time our students and staff have shaped culture and society. From the artists and creatives to the practitioners in our schools and public services, and the entrepreneurs and scientists, our community creates positive change.

Join us as we celebrate the valuable contribution Goldsmiths makes to the world.

Foundations of Gold, by Omar Elsaaidi AKA Refrain

Foundations of Gold is a spoken word piece created by Omar Elsaaidi to mark Goldsmiths' 120th anniversary. Omar is a second-year BA (Hons) Social Science, Community Development and Youth Work student who came to Goldsmiths after attending our free Saturday morning Alchemy music programme for local teenagers, where he is now an Alchemy Master. He is also an Equity Awards scholar, our scheme of intentional support for Global Ethnic Majority (GEM) students to achieve their full potential.
