Inter Faith Week
Inter Faith Week aims to promote understanding, cooperation and good relations between organisations and persons of different faiths in the UK.
Primary page content
Inter Faith Week 2023 runs from 12-19 November.
The event aims to:
- Strengthen good inter faith relations at all levels
- Increase awareness of the different and distinct faith communities in the UK, in particular celebrating and building on the contributions their members make to their neighbourhoods and to wider society
- Increase understanding between people of religious and non-religious beliefs
November is also Islamophobia Awareness Month.
Goldsmiths aims to provide a space for people of all faiths and none to feel welcome and comfortable in their identity in their study or employment.
The College has a zero tolerance approach to Discrimination, Bullying and Harassment and outlines this clearly in our policy. This is situated alongside the Equality Act 2010 which states ‘religion or belief’ as a protected characteristic.
“As a Christian, our faith teaches us that God is a God of relationship, which we seek to model in all our human relationships by a spirit of openness to others. Jesus was all about breaking down barriers between people and pointing towards God’s love for all people. I also think our own faith journey, is deepened and enriched by learning about other faith practices and traditions.”
Revd Ann Clarke, Anglican Chaplain
Facilities and activities at Goldsmiths
Our Multi-Faith Chaplaincy is located on the green behind the Ben Pimlott Building and operates as a safe and inclusive social space. It is open during term time for free tea and coffee. This is also where our Chaplains office space is located.
Spaces for prayer and reflection
Our Multi-Faith Prayer Rooms are located in the Richard Hoggart Building (RHB 2.106 & 2.107). These rooms are designed to be a welcoming space for individuals and groups of all faiths and traditions.
The prayer rooms are divided into the male prayer room (RHB 2.106) and the female prayer room (RHB 2.107) and are for everybody – regardless of religion or belief. Each room has wudu facilities and caters to all faith traditions, therefore we politely encourage all who use the prayer room to leave it in the same way they found it.
The College also has a Quiet Room, located in Richard Hoggart Building (RHB 203). This is a quiet reflective space for individuals and groups of all backgrounds. It is a work in progress, and we hope to furnish the space to facilitate a calm and tranquil environment.

Prayer and worship services
Our community comes together for a range of services on campus each week. All are open to both students and staff.
