Arabic Teachers' Council in London and Southern England

The Arabic Teachers’ Council in London and Southern England was established to advance teaching of the Arabic language and culture.

This is achieving this by offering CPDs for teachers, preparing for exams, organising competitions, and sharing educational resources. Furthermore, the council is committed to supporting schools, students, and parents in their engagement with Arabic teaching and learning.

Arabic teachers can sign up and register for CPD courses on the website. The full CPD programme and activities can be accessed at the Arabic Teachers’ Council Website.

Continuing Professional Development Course for Arabic Teachers (hosted at Goldsmiths and supported by the Qatar Foundation International)

October 2024 – May 2025

Associate Lecturers: Luma Hameed and Sawsan Haffar-Saffaf

Teaching Arabic Language and Culture in Context is an introduction to up-to-date methods for the teaching of Arabic as a foreign and community heritage language. During the module you will create a learning and teaching portfolio to help you reflect on your classroom practice and develop creative resources that are differentiated for pupils’ needs. You will be supported to carry out a classroom project and be able to report on your learning from the project. The module provides excellent preparation for applying for the PGCE Secondary Languages programme at Goldsmiths.
