Data Science is a broad mixture of pure Computer Science and applications, particularly relating to biology and medicine. Data science brings technology to real world data science problems and is at the forefront of emerging technologies, statistical analysis and computational techniques.
Our researchers in the data science section have a number of research grants, ranging from funders including; Alzheimer's UK. BBSRC, EPSRC.

Research Highlights
Dr Larisa Soldatova manages an EPSRC research project called ‘Action on Cancer’. This is a collaborative project with University of Manchester that is to develop ACTION (a decision support system for the treatment of cancer), a prototype AI system designed to perform equally or better than human oncologists in selecting the best treatments for cancer.
Dr Daniel Stamate leads the project at Goldsmiths,’ Predicting risk of dementia using routine primary care record’ funded by Alzheimers Research UK. The project is in the final year of its research and the results are very promising. This is a collaborative project with the University of Manchester.
Dr Daniel Buchan has recently been awarded a BBSRC grant called, “Accelerating and enhancing the PSIPRED Workbench with deep learning”.
