Jocelyn is the convenor of the first-year module entitled 'Genre', and a frequent tutor on Practical Academic Skills and Strategies sessions and the Effective Academic Writing programme.

Academic qualifications

  • PhD in Creative Writing (Goldsmiths College, University of London) 2016
  • Masters in Creative and Life Writing, with Distinction (Goldsmiths College, University of London) 2009
  • BA, Phi Beta Kappa, in Japanese and Linguistics (University of Michigan) 1989

Research interests

In her research, Jocelyn explores close reading of poetry and the short story, poetics, poetic scansion, creative writing pedagogy and strategies toward academic writing and inquiry.

Professional projects

In 2023 & 2024, Jocelyn wrote and delivered an intensive Creative Writing course for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (SWPS) in Warsaw, Poland.

Jocelyn has collaborated with the artist Bernadette Enright on 'Reclaim', a poetry-textile installation at Morley College (2021).

She has volunteered as a creative writing facilitator at the 999 Homelessness Charity since 2017.

in 2016, she was the Writer in Residence at The Reach Climbing Centre in Woolwich, London.
