5.1 Studio
This postgraduate workstation is designed for 5.1 surround sound mixing and editing, plus archiving of reel-to-reel tapes and other analog media.
This studio is housed on the first floor of the Dept. of Music in a custom-built soundproof booth.
Equipment currently comprises:
- Apple Mac Pro 2.66GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon, 4GB RAM, with Seagate Barracuda 750Gb 7200rpm internal hard drive
- External Firewire storage drive for student projects
- Digidesign Digidesign ProTools|HD 2 Accel system for PCIe
- Digidesign 192 I/O audio interface
- Digidesign Command|8 control surface
- Blue Sky Systems BMC MkII Bass Management Controller
- 5 x ADAM P11A 2-way active nearfield loudspeaker
- 1 x ADAM Sub10 10" active subwoofer
Equipment for tape archiving and digitization:
- Studer B67 1/4” reel to reel tape recorder, 3.75, 7.5 & 15ips
- Revox B77 Mk.2 1/4" reel to reel tape recorder, 3.75, & 7.5ips
- Denon DRM-550 cassette player
- Pro-Ject USB/analog vinyl record player
- Keith Monks record cleaning machine
