#SacredChuckle
#SacredChuckle is a way of going beyond theological theory and religious dogma to reveal the hidden truths of lived religion and belief.

It’s funny because it’s true: from the Platonic fear that laughter undermines rational self-control, to the psychological idea that laughter reveals hidden and unexplored preconceptions, there is plenty to suggest that laughter brings out the truth.
Laughter is the best medicine. From the charismatic idea of laughter as a form of speaking in tongues to laughter yoga; and from social theories of deindividuation to laughter therapy, religious and secular people alike increasingly recognise laughter as drawing us out of the mundane.
We hope that #SacredChuckle can bring together researchers and the wider public for shared wonder out of how religion and belief impinge on our lives.
