English and Creative Writing MA Fee Waiver
The Department of English and Creative Writing will be awarding a limited number of competitive fee-waiver bursaries for the academic session 2024 - 25.

2024Eligibility criteria
Students applying to the following MA programmes are eligible to apply for a limited number of 30% fee waivers*:
- MA Black British Literature
- MA Creative and Life Writing
- MA Literary Studies (pathways in: American Literature and Culture; Caribbean Literature and Its Diasporas; Comparative Literature and Criticism; Critical Theory; Modern Literature; Romantic and Victorian Literature and Culture; Shakespeare; Early & Modern)
- MA Multilingualism, Linguistics and Education
- MA Sociocultural Linguistics
- MA Translation
Successful applicants will demonstrate signs of significant academic potential indicated in particular by evidence of distinction and diligence in prior BA studies.
*NB: These MA fee-waiver bursaries will be in addition to the Goldsmiths Excellence and Alumni fee-waivers.
Overseas students may apply for these fee waivers but should note that the value of each award will be equal to the fees applicable for home/EU students. Exclusions and adjustments based on other awards held may apply.

How to apply
You must have already submitted an application to the relevant programme in order to submit an application for a fee waiver.
New students applying for the fee waivers should also include two academic references.
The letter of application should be less than 500 words and:
- Outline the grounds for your choice of MA programme (approximately 75 words)
- Indicate how you expect your MA to help you achieve your intellectual, academic, or creative goals (approximately 75 words)
- Make a strong case for your ability to complete the MA programme with excellent results (approximately 350 words). In making this case, you may want to expand on some aspects of your CV, and you would certainly be well advised to frame this case with reference to the specified criterion above

Selection process
All fee waivers will be awarded via competition, on the basis of merit, as defined by the specified criteria, and not on the basis of need. Awards will be made only where applications are judged to have met the criteria convincingly.
Should students wish to defer their study please note that we cannot guarantee to carry over an award to the following year(s).
