Media, Communications and Cultural Studies 20% MA Fee Waivers
The Department of Media, Communications and Cultural Studies will award a limited number of competitive 20% fee waivers for the academic session 2025 – 26 for students who demonstrate considerable academic potential and can demonstrate need on the basis of being first in their family to attend university, from a low-income family or being care-experienced.

Students applying to the following MA programmes are eligible to apply for a limited number of 20% fee waivers:
- MA Broadcast Journalism
- MA Script Writing
- MA Filmmaking: Screen Documentary
- MA Filmmaking: Experimental Film
Successful applicants will demonstrate signs of significant academic potential.
These MA fee waivers will be made in addition to the Goldsmiths Excellence and Alumni fee waivers and the Media, Communications and Cultural Studies First in Family Fee Waivers.

How to apply
You must have already submitted an application to the relevant programme in order to submit an application for a fee waiver.
Students applying for the fee waivers should also include two academic references.
The application should be less than 500 words and confirm the basis on which you are applying, ie one (or more) of the following:
- that neither of your parents/carers attended university
- you qualified for free school meals at school
- you have been care-experienced, ie by being in foster care or a children’s home
You must also outline the grounds for your choice of MA programme
- Indicate how you expect your MA to help you achieve your intellectual, academic, or creative goals
- Make a strong case for your ability to complete the MA programme with excellent results. In making this case, you may want to expand on some aspects of your background, achievements and CV to date.

Selection process
The fee waiver awards will only be made where applications are judged to have met the criteria convincingly. They will be selected on a competitive basis by a panel of MCCS academic staff. A limited number of awards are available.
Please note that should you wish to defer your study, we cannot guarantee to carry over an award to the following year(s).
