Hughie O’Donoghue is an award-winning artist, who became an honorary fellow of Goldsmiths in 2022.
Born in Manchester, Hughie O’Donoghue lives and works in London and County Mayo, Ireland.
He completed an MA at Goldsmiths in 1982 and was Artist in Residence at The National Gallery, 1984-85.
He was elected Royal Academician in 2009 and to Aosdána in 2013.
O’Donoghue has completed a number of major public commissions, including stained glass windows for the Henry VII Lady Chapel at Westminster Abbey, and Canterbury Cathedral, and a painting commissioned for the crypt at St Paul’s Cathedral. Solo exhibitions have been held at the Imperial War Museum, Royal Academy, Haus der Kunst, Irish Museum of Modern Art, and others. His work is held in public collections across the world.
