Our teaching is strongly focused on applying academically rigorous concepts to real world situations.

Between September and June, all undergraduate students will follow a selection of our wide range of option courses and undertake a major project.  Course options include topics such as Algorithms and complexity theory, Software projects, Perception and multimedia computing, Internet and distributed programming, Information systems for e-business, Social computing, Databases/networks and the web, Principles and applications of programming, Neural networks, Data compression, Language, design and implementation, Computer security, Electronic commerce, Data mining, Artificial intelligence, Advanced audio-visual processing, Physical computing, Advanced graphics and animation, Introduction to natural language processing, Interaction design and Interactive narrative media. What you will study, and your 3-month research project.

Following this period you will spend 3 months working on bespoke supervised lab-based or research project associated with one of our research team, such as the Embodied Audio-Visual Interaction research group and the Narrative and Interactive Media research group. You will work, in a group, under the guidance of our researchers on a project that contributes to our research effort. This will either be part of our cutting edge research or a collaborative project with one of our partners in industry. You will work from June to September and at the end submit work for publication or delivery to an industry partner.
