Goldsmiths Library is in the Rutherford Building which houses Library Services and IT Services.

Dewey

Books are organised by subject using the Dewey Decimal Classification system outlined below, with numbers 000-699 located on the 1st floor of the Library and numbers 700-999 located on the 2nd floor.

Students and staff can request books via our click and collect service as browsing is currently unavailable due to Covid-19.

Study Spaces

Students and staff can book an individual study space, PC, Mac, Assistive Technology Computer or space in the Digital Media Suite via book a study space.

To accommodate different preferences, we have different zones you can use according to your study needs.

Social study: The use of devices is permitted with headphones, mobile phones, conversation, food and drink are allowed. This zone is located on the Ground Floor of the Library.

Individual Study: the use of devices is permitted with headphones, mobile phones should be on the silent setting, drinks with lids and cold snacks are allowed, minimal conversation.

Supported Study: the same rules as individual study apply with the following exceptions- food and drink are not permitted in the Special Collections Reading room and lecturers/support workers may discuss work with students.

Silent Study: the use of devices is permitted with headphones, mobile phones should be on the silent setting, no food or drink or conversation is allowed.
