Course overview
We demand something new and different. We not only want to understand the media: we want to change them and even question what counts as media.
The Department of Media, Communications and Cultural Studies is a world-leader in media and communications theory and research and cultural studies. We pride ourselves on being critical, creative and radical.
Our MAs reflect the research expertise of our staff – the people you are taught by. We are a diverse and interdisciplinary Department that thrives on its theory and professional practice mix, challenging norms and engaging with real-world issues.
Students come to us to develop their careers and to be part of a rich intellectual environment that draws from feminism, critical race studies, political and cultural economy, social theory, media arts, media policy, film and cultural studies.
Many of our graduates go on to leading roles in the areas of media, communications and cultural production in industry, the public sector and the campaigning/NGO field.
We provide a range of tailor-made theory and practice MA programmes offering professional and critical training and extensive choice of option modules, a community in which you can develop as you move into professional life or further study.
