Rashmee is an experienced journalist who has worked on four continents, interpreting political news across cultures
Rashmee Roshan Lall was editor of The Sunday Times of India, deputy global news editor
Quartz, presenter of the BBC World Service’s flagship current affairs programme and
features editor of openDemocracy. She reported for The Economist and The Guardian from Haiti, for India Today from the US and analysed developments in Tunisia and elsewhere for The National, Abu Dhabi. She is a columnist for The Times of India and continues to contribute to Persuasion and other outlets. Passionate about news literacy, she created a Substack, This Week, Those Books, which links the week’s big story to the world of books. The newsletter has grown in 16 months to more than 10,000 subscribers in 117 countries. She is a daily blogger, rarely missing a day in 12 years, and a published novelist.

Rashmee has taught critical thinking in cultural studies, as well as experimentation, adaptation and collaboration to creative writing undergratuates at the University of East Anglia. She designed and taught a multimedia storytelling postgraduate module at the University of East London.
