A Goldsmiths graduate has been hailed as “Charli xcx’s secret weapon” after winning the producer of the year Brit Award for his work on the artist’s hit album Brat.

Writing on Instagram, he said: “Thank you @brits for Producer of the Year & all the brat awards. Ty @charli_xcx for trusting me across so many albums, mixtapes and remixes Special thanks to everyone who’s worked with me these last few years to achieve this crescendo of pure Britpop.”
At the Brit Awards 2025 ceremony at the 02 Arena Charli xcx thanked her producer for his support over the last decade.
A.G. Cook graduated from the BMus Music Computing course in 2013 and shortly after started PC Music, a record label and collective of artists, producers and performers which redefined pop with its forward-thinking, experimental approach. His work with iconic artist SOPHIE drew critical acclaim and the producer and artist has also worked with Beyoncé, Caroline Polachek, Troye Sivan and Christine & The Queens.
In a recent Sunday Times interview – where he was hailed as Charli xcx’s “secret weapon” – he said: “I was fascinated by the idea that with computers anything is possible. My feeling was that music was begging to be experimented with, to be divorced from reality. I could see something malleable in it.”
Charli xcx reflected on their creative partnership in a 2020 Vanity Fair interview, saying: “I found it really difficult to communicate my vision to a lot of people I worked with for many years. It was only when I met Sophie and then A.G. that I finally found what I was searching for. We just immediately spoke the same language — we didn’t even have to talk, they immediately understood the kinds of sounds I was trying to achieve.”
