The award-winning global alumni reunion from Goldsmiths, University of London is coming home – with four events staged in London for the first time.
Around the World in 7 Days 2017 will see events taking place on the university’s doorstep in New Cross and Deptford, as well as events elsewhere in the UK.
Alumni are invited to take part in the decade-specific events, including a campus tour and lunch at celebrated local pub The Royal Albert or a night of rum cocktails, Red Stripe and Caribbean food at Deptford bar Buster Mantis – with music provided by La Leif, in collaboration with NX Records.
Events are also being held in Cambridge and Brighton – marking a true UK homecoming for a series which has spanned the globe since it launched in 2015.
Around the World in 7 Days is a week of alumni events taking place across the globe, with gatherings held in 35 cities split across 26 countries between 19 to 26 May 2017.
The decision to include the UK in this year’s celebration was made after the Development and Alumni team saw the impact the events had on alumni.
Mary Davies, Head of Alumni Relations and Regular Giving said: “We didn’t anticipate how quickly the series would grow when we started just three years ago, and we thought about it as something specifically for alumni based outside the UK, who couldn't easily come back to Goldsmiths.
“However, it has really resonated with alumni and so it's time to include London and other cities in the UK. We hope that this will be the start of many more volunteer-led events in the UK as well as new ones overseas.”
More than 500 alumni last year gathered in 21 cities across 15 countries to reconnect with the University and make new contacts within their local Goldsmiths community. The series has been recognised as industry-leading, taking Silver in the Best Alumni, Development of Fundraising Initiative in the 2016 Heist higher education awards.
This year’s event is the biggest yet. Join in on the celebrations – booking is now open.
