Goldsmiths graduates among 'art world’s rising stars' in XL Catlin Art Guide

Four recent graduates from the Department of Art at Goldsmiths, University of London are among the 30 most promising talents chosen for this year’s XL Catlin Art Guide: a showcase of the art world’s rising stars.
Launching at The London Art Fair from 20 January 2016, the XL Catlin Art Guide presents exceptional new graduate artists, selected from UK art schools by curator Justin Hammond.
Among them are Goldsmiths, University of London alumni:

Christopher Gray - BA Fine Art & History of Art
Saemundur Thor Helgason - MFA Fine Art

Now in its seventh edition, the XL Catlin Art Guide is an annual publication which also acts as a longlist for the XL Catlin Art Prize. Those shortlisted are considered to be producing work of an outstanding quality, which demonstrates their capacity to make a significant mark in the art world during the next decade.
The book has an excellent track record for forecasting the next generation of outstanding artists, providing early recognition for Charlie Billingham, Noémie Goudal, Neil Raitt and many others. Rachel Maclean, who featured in the first edition of the book, was recently selected for the Hayward Touring exhibition, British Art Show 8.
Each of the 30 individual profiles will feature an interview with Hammond, discussing forthcoming projects and aspirations for the future.
The full list of this year’s 'ones to watch will be revealed in January when the XL Catlin Art Guide 2016 is launched at the London Art Fair 2016, alongside an exhibition of work by selected artists. Following the launch, it will be available to buy from Waterstones, and other selected booksellers.
