Stonewall recognises progress as an LGBTQ+ equality employer

Goldsmiths has received a Silver Award from charity Stonewall in recognition of its work around LGBTQ+ equality as an employer.

Building on the Bronze Award earned by Goldsmiths in 2022, this Silver Award illustrates that demonstrable progress has been in the last twelve months and marks another positive step forwards for LGBTQ+ equality.

The award is the result of Goldsmiths’ submission to Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index, a competitive tool that enables organisations to benchmark and measure their LGBTQ+ inclusion practices against others.

The submission requires evidence of work to advance LGBTQ+ equality in areas including recruitment, policies, employee networks, community engagement and training.

Colleagues across Goldsmiths, led by its Equality Diversity and Inclusion team, worked collaboratively to collect and collate the data required over a period of months before submission in September 2022.

Fittingly, news of the award was delivered in February, as the UK marks LGBT+ History Month.
