This is Goldsmiths: Seven things to do this weekend

Primary page content

Every day our students, staff and alumni are involved in amazing things. From live music to lectures, and plays to poetry slams, there are countless ways that you can experience what makes Goldsmiths special and celebrate the achievements of our community. Here's our pick of seven things to do this weekend.

Watch: Cucumber

Last night was the final episode of Russell T Davies' explosive Channel 4 series Cucumber, which starred MA Television Drama alumnus Cyril Nri as Lance. You've still got a week to catch up with the series on 4od.

Book tickets: Matthew Herbert at Village Underground

Tickets are available now for NX Records director Matthew Herbert's house music set at Village Underground, which is part of this year's Convergence Festival. NX Records, which is an independent record label co-run by Herbert and Goldsmiths music students, hosts regular events, releases mixtapes and organises pop up stores. Britpop sensation Blur, who met at Goldsmiths and played their first gig here, announced last month that they're releasing their first full-length album in 16 years. You can now win tickets to watch them play the whole album live in London next week - for free! But don't despair if you miss out, just you can watch them play their 2009 reunion gig at Goldsmiths Students' Union.

Visit: Lucy Clout's 'From Our Own Correspondent' at Jerwood Space

You've got until 26 April to catch BA Fine Art graduate Lucy Clout's ‘From Our Own Correspondent’ at the Jerwood Gallery. Lucy's video, part of the 'What Will They See of Me 2015' exhibition, features interviews with news journalists, bloggers and feature writers on the subject of what makes a useful interview or an interesting encounter. The film was developed after she won this year's Jerwood/FVU Award.

Submit: Cat videos to Deptford's YouTube Cat Video Film Festival

‌‌‌

Got a favourite cat video? Of course you have! The UK's first ever Cat Video Film Festival is taking place on 25 April, just down the road in Deptford. Tickets are sadly sold out but the organisers are looking for submissions, so send in your clip if you want to make your cat a star.
