Nathan's time at Goldsmiths
The people I met at Goldsmiths were fantastic. The PE department was one big family and we all got on really well straight away. The second year was superb because we did a lot of sport and studied how to teach everything. That really helped build my confidence for the challenges I faced later on in my career when I taught PE in a Primary school as a specialist teacher.
Because I'm also a musician, I also met loads of fantastic musicians at Goldsmiths. We formed a function band while at college in 1994 and we are still performing and parties and weddings today!
What's Nathan doing now
I'm CEO of Nathan Timothy Foundation - The Songwriting Charity - a charity I set up in 2011.
The thing I love most about it is creating something of value from nothing. I love inspiring children to be creative and confident through music and songwriting. It's a huge buzz!
In addition to working in loads of schools all over the UK, I'm currently in the process of setting up a community studio/ creative space within a school, so I'm excited about that.
I also produce and release my own music through my 3foot6 Records label, and have an album in the pipeline
Advice for future students
Going to university is the most wonderful experience if you embrace the opportunity and really take it all in. The friendships I made and the experiences I had really set me up for my career in teaching and as a musician - and everything I've achieved with the Songwriting Charity.
