"History isn’t something that’s confined to books, but that it’s a subject that provides a variety of career paths and a huge range of options for those who study it."

"I’ve been at Goldsmiths for 20 years and I love it because of its feeling of openness and community. Academics are able to pursue their own interests without compromise and take students along for the ride. The agenda can be lead in any way you want and whatever you’re passionate about, you’ll find someone who shares your interests.
I am responsible for which is a single term course which gives students 1 day a week work experience in a London cultural institution. We’ve had students who have completed placements at the London Metropolitan Archive and the Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green, among others. Students have been inspired to take up museum and archive work after graduation.
The course is great in showing how the raw material of history is translated into practice and proving that history isn’t something that’s confined to books, but that it’s a subject that provides a variety of career paths and a huge range of options for those who study it."
