My experience at Goldsmiths has enabled me to dream bigger than ever.
Since graduating with a MA in Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship in 2013, I had the amazing opportunity to work with the Ministry Of Culture in Barbados toward having the First ever Cultural Industries Development Bill passed in Barbados. The Bill was made Act of Parliament in February 2015, and it made provisions for the establishment of the Cultural Industries Development Authority, which I helped establish with a wonderful team of creatives where I currently work as Head of The Business Development Department, Ministry of Culture, Barbados. As a National Development Scholar winner in 2012, my experience at Goldsmiths really impacted on how I was able to shape some of the goals of this premier organisation. It has enabled me to dream bigger than ever, and while sometimes that dreaming can be challenging, it is often rewarding.
I'm am currently working on three major projects to position the Cultural Industries of Barbados and these include a Mapping of Cultural Industries, the production of a market place for the CIs during the Caribbean Festival of Arts (CARIFESTA XIII), and Working with international agency INEXMODA in developing a Fashion System for Barbados.
Amid all of this I am still singing my classical music and I am preparing to read for a PhD at Goldsmiths, where the area of research will focus on "The challenges that exist in investing in creativity in developing economies". I'm looking forward to this and once again being at Goldsmiths University of London.
I also hold a BA in History with linguistics and another MA in Heritage Studies.
