How to apply for a postgraduate taught degree
Primary page content
You apply directly to Goldsmiths via the website by clicking the ‘apply now’ button on the programme page of the course you’re interested in.
Exceptions to this are our PGCE programmes where you are required to apply through UCAS Teacher Training, and our MA in Social Work where you must also apply through UCAS.
Some programmes have particular application procedures, so always check the relevant programme page first.
When to apply
We accept applications from October for students wanting to start the following September.
For most taught degrees there is no official deadline of when to apply by, but it’s worth noting that popular courses tend to fill up quickly, so it’s best to apply early to avoid disappointment. Late applications will only be considered if there are spaces available.
We encourage you to complete your application even if you haven't finished your current programme of study. It's very common to be offered a place that’s conditional on you achieving a particular qualification.
If you're applying for funding you may be subject to an application deadline.
Personal statement
As part of your application, you will be asked to upload a personal statement. This is your chance to differentiate yourself from the other applicants applying for your programme, and to describe why we should offer you a place to study with us.
Read our guidance on writing your personal statement.
Providing work
As part of your application, you may also be asked to provide examples of your work, such as essays or photography. Details will be given on individual programme pages.
If you’d like us to return your work, please enclose a suitable self-addressed return envelope, together with the appropriate reply-paid coupon or postage stamps. We can't return your work if you don't supply this; in such cases, you must arrange collection of your work no later than the end of the first week of October – the College will arrange automatic disposal after this date.
Goldsmiths accepts no responsibility for loss of or damage to any item submitted in support of an application: please don't send originals or items of any monetary value.
Selection process
After you’ve submitted your application it will be reviewed by our academic staff. You may also be invited to an interview (either in person or via Skype).
Once your application and qualifications have been considered, we’ll let you know whether you’ll be offered a place.
