Find out how our Widening Participation team can support younger students to think about their futures.
Primary page content
This work largely focuses on secondary school groups; however, we are open to working with students as young as nine.
Our Widening Participation team delivers activities aimed at students in Years 5 to 11. We focus on working with local schools and colleges (including those in wider Southeast London), and schools with an above-average proportion of Pupil Premium students.
Primary schools - Key stage 2
We are open to working with primary schools in Lewisham and neighbouring London boroughs. We also engage with primary schools through our work with The Brilliant Club and IntoUniversity.
Secondary schools - Key stage 3 and 4
Our activities include:
- Attending school and college-based Higher Education and Careers Fairs.
- Delivering information, advice and guidance talks and workshops in schools, covering topics like why university, choosing your GCSE’s/A-levels, myth-busting student finance and funding, student life, thinking about careers, and more!
- Attending selected UCAS exhibitions and UK University Search fairs.
- Virtual Q&A panels with our student ambassadors (current Goldsmiths’ students).
Subject to availability, Goldsmiths’ academics can deliver subject talks and webinars to give your students a taste of university-level study. These talks may take place in schools, colleges, or online.
We run Discover Gold Days throughout the year for school groups. These campus visits usually include a campus tour, a workshop about university, a free lunch in the campus refectory, a Q&A with student ambassadors, and an academic taster session. Please email discovergold@gold.ac.uk to find out more.
We work in partnership with Aimhigher London and The Brilliant Club to deliver campus visits to students taking part in their programmes.
