Study Abroad programme
Our Study Abroad programme gives international students the opportunity to live, study, and socialise with Goldsmiths students for a term or a full academic year.

We offer multiple study abroad programme options so you can study abroad at a time that best suits you.
Autumn Semester only
The autumn semester study abroad programme runs from September to December. Exact dates are available on our semester dates page.
On this programme, you choose four modules from across Goldsmiths’ departments (with the exception of Art and Design).
In September you will join in the Goldsmiths-wide Welcome Week, which is full of activities and events to help you get acquainted with our campus and integrated into our community. The Global Opportunities team will also host a series of events specific to Study Abroad and Erasmus students.
Applications for the Autumn Semester close on 30 July.
Spring/Summer Semester only
The spring/summer semester study abroad programme runs from January to June. Teaching takes place from January to March (spring semester), and assessments take place from April to June (summer semester). Exact dates are available on our semester dates page.
If you choose modules assessed by essays, you may not need to be on campus in the summer semester. You can find more information about modules and their assessments on our module options page.
In January, you will take part in a Welcome Week hosted by the Global Opportunities team. There will be a series of events specifically for Study Abroad and Erasmus students.
Applications for the Spring/Summer Semester close on 15 November.
Full academic year
The full academic year study abroad programme runs from September to June. You will be integrated into a full year of study at Goldsmiths. Exact dates are available on our semester dates page.
Most students will choose a total of eight modules – four in the autumn semester, and four in the spring semester. Some modules are available for the full academic year. See our academic information page for more information about grades and credits. You can find out about the modules on offer on our module options page.
In September, you will join in the Goldsmiths-wide Welcome Week, which is full of activities and events to help you get acquainted with our campus and integrated into our community. The Global Opportunities team will also host a series of events specific for Study Abroad and Erasmus students.
In January you will be invited to join in events to welcome the spring/summer students.

Study abroad with pre-sessional English language
Students who do not meet our English language requirements can apply to join our pre-sessional English language programme. We offer three different programme lengths – 12 weeks, 9 weeks, and 5 weeks. Which one you can apply for depends on your IELTS score.
Students who successfully complete the pre-sessional programme can join the autumn semester or full-year Study Abroad programme.
To apply, you must complete an application for the pre-sessional programme and an application for the Study Abroad programme. On your Study Abroad application, you can select if you wish to do the autumn semester Study Abroad programme with pre-sessional, or the full year Study Abroad programme with pre-sessional.
Art
The Study Abroad Art programme is only available for the full academic year. You will be fully integrated into the first year of the BA Fine Art degree programme and will be given your own studio space.
You will only be able to study within the Art department and will not be able to take modules from other departments.
When applying, you must select that you are applying for the Art programme, and must also upload a portfolio.
Design
The Study Abroad Design programme is available for the autumn semester only, spring/summer semester only, or the full academic year. You will be fully integrated into the first year of the BA Design degree programme and will be given your own studio space.
You will only be able to study within the Design department and will not be able to take modules from other departments.
When applying, you must select that you are applying for the Design programme, and must also upload a portfolio.
Postgraduate
You can Study Abroad at Goldsmiths as a postgraduate student for the autumn semester only, spring/summer semester only, or the full academic year. We list many modules available to postgraduate students on our module options page.
However, if you are interested in any modules at Goldsmiths that are not currently advertised on our module options page, please contact us directly at studyabroad (@gold.ac.uk). Additional modules can often be made available on a case by case basis.
When applying, you must select that you are a postgraduate student.
