Integrated Degrees at Goldsmiths

Whether you're looking to improve your academic skills or are returning to education, an integrated degree could help you prepare for undergraduate study.

What is an integrated degree?

An integrated degree is an undergraduate degree with a foundation year included. If you do not meet the entry requirements to apply directly to an undergraduate degree, the integrated degree will provide you with the opportunity to hone your academic and subject-specific skills in preparation for undergraduate study.

If you successfully pass your foundation year, you will be able to progress on to your chosen undergraduate degree.

Why choose an integrated degree?

  • The foundation year provides you with core academic skills and acts as a supportive bridge to induct you into university life.
  • During your studies, you will be housed within your subject’s department to ensure you are integrated into the department's ways of working before progressing on to your undergraduate degree.
  • You'll receive individual tutorial support and academic guidance, and you'll also attend a study skills course as part of the programme.
  • There are no formal entry requirements for these programmes, you just need to demonstrate an interest in the subject. If you’re returning to education, looking to change career path or wanting to improve your academic skills, then an integrated degree may be suitable for you.

The university embraced me with arms wide open as soon as I stepped into the Richard Hoggart Building for the first time. The atmosphere here at Goldsmiths allows everyone to feel at ease without feeling judged.

How to apply

You apply through UCAS as you would with other undergraduate degrees.

Visit the relevant programme page to see programme-specific entry requirements, English language requirements and additional application requirements.

International Foundation Certificates (IFCs)

If you are an international student and you want to improve your English, it may be more suitable to take an International Foundation Certificate instead of a foundation year. The English language entry requirements are lower and they are a great introduction to British academic culture. They are available in: Arts and Humanities; Computing; Design; Media, Culture and Society; Music; and Social Sciences.
